What a pleasant surprise this book turned out to be. I genuinely thought we were going one direction but we ended up not going that way at all. You ever get into a book thinking you know how this is going to end and then you hit a point where you go “hmmm… maybe I am wrong.” That was how I read this book. I was convinced that my thinking was exactly how this would play out and bam, it wasn’t and I couldn’t be happier that it didn’t go how I thought.

We meet Cora as she is getting ready for her 19th birthday celebration at her families home. She is a princess and it is finally time for her to meet her future husband. I mean she has been ready to meet him since the day she turned 18 but for some reason no one seemed interested in getting to know Cora. Well at least that is what she thought. In reality, her father, the King, may have had a hand in that.

So in a moment of curiosity she seeks out the man she has been seeing in the shadows. She stumbles upon him on the balcony and goes out to chat. But he doesn’t respond. So she goes on and on and just lets it go, all that she has been feeling and dealing with. Then she turns around and he is gone. Where did this mystery man go?

Well to be a perfect princess bride, you must be a virgin on your wedding night. But you see Cora is feeling rebellious because why haven’t these men been trying to tear down her doors to have a chance to date her?!?! So in another moment of pure frustration, she goes out on the balcony thinking the shadowy figure may be outside and speaks to the void that she will be leaving her doors open and he should have his way with her.

Here’s where the issues arise. The next morning, many princes come to her house and ask to have a chance with her to see if they would be fit to marry. Cue the panic now. Cause what do you mean the day after she goes off script all of these men are now coming out of the wood works like “hey, I want to date you!!” Where were you this whole past year. So we panicking. Cause what else do you do in this moment. We panic.

In her panic though, she is trying her absolute hardest to be present and tentative to her guests. Yet one after the other they all keep feeling like she is not trying to start a relationship with them. One even gets up and is like “Im not doing this.” Then proceeds to leave.

Cora starts to become concerned and thinking it may end up being that she is alone all her life with the man in the shadows only coming to her at night. That can’t be too bad…. That is until one prince asks for a week to try his hand at making her fall for him and you know what happens….?

This is where we cut off. Y’all this is under 200 pages, you will devour it in no time and find how this actually ends. Remember my thinking was not correct so go into this with an open mind.

Willow Winters and Amelia Wilde are starting to become one of my favorite duos when writing books. I have lost track of how many books I have read of theirs but either way, its a lot and I adore each and every one of them. So you can easily tell I am obsessed with this one too. That’s even coming from a dark romance girl too. So if you want a light read and to change it up, might I recommend this one being added to your TBR or even your next read!!!
