“Me? What have I done besides every f***ing thing you want? Was being at your beck and call for the last ten years too much? Did I upset you when I’ve bled and been in pain to save you from hurting? Which part bothered you so f***ing much, Psycho?”
“The part where you made me want you. The days you made me want you and didn’t want me back….”
Can I get the knife out of my heart yet? Cause that one hurt. Ouch. Someone sit with me on this pain cause oof I think we need a minute after reading those lines.
I’m not sure what you would call this trope. I honestly have never really tried to know the name but I need to know it. Cause its like enemies to lovers but they are actually best friends. But he is also brothers best friend. Found family turned crush. Its friends to lovers but they fight all the time and he knows how to piss her off unlike anyone else. She also throws tantrums of epic size. Like they can’t be together so they quietly start dating. What is that trope? Cause that is what we have here.
Ace, Ember and Rook all relied on each other and truly made a family together after none of them have parents. Ember and Rook are siblings and they brought Ace into the mix for work. But ever since Ace met Ember, he has had feelings. But he squashed it down. Slowly they started to bring in more people to their family as the business grew. So we enter in Mason, Hero, Kane and Zack. Then in Rook & Rebel, we have another two girls brought into the group, Rebel and Harper. So a nice little family. But Rook (the brother) has one rule, Ember is off limits.
So for 10 years, Ace kept his feelings down and just left Ember alone. Well that is except for the fact that Rook made it Ace’s job to keep an eye on Ember….. Come on, the man is a saint. He kept control for that long when she was on the back of his bike all the time. He was her bodyguard. He was her sounding board. Like he was her boyfriend without being her boyfriend. It’s like they both just assumed the relationship without any of the benefits.
That is until Ember can’t take it anymore. So she decides to set up a plan to ruin Ace’s life. Cause she is convinced this man has got to have feelings or he has just been forced to be friends with her. So what does any rational girl do, we blackmail. Yep, blackmail the man into remembering he is stuck with you and he is going to admit his feelings.
But what happens when he doesn’t just take the blackmail lying down. What happens when he actually fights back and has his own games up his sleeve? That is why you need to read Ace & Ember. To find out what exactly goes on. Oh and did I forget to say a secret society is trying to ruin their lives too? No? Oh, yea, that’s happening too.
Author Kate Crew is back with book two in the Maverick Moto series and y’all it did not disappoint one bit from book 1! I have been so excited for this book to come out that I devoured this book in about 3 days. Honestly it would have been less if life didn’t have me pausing. Rook & Rebel was such a delicious read and ever since then I have been curious how Ace & Ember would turn out. We had a glimpse of them in Rook & Rebel and you could tell they would be fiery but this was absolute perfection.
