Why did I put this book off for so long? Instant regret the moment I started and finished this book. I needed to have read this book a lot sooner than I did. I regret not reading this the moment it came out and I think I will be learning from this one on all future Leigh Rivers books. Now I just need to tackle a few more books before I can do just that.
Let me start with saying I listened to Little Stranger the moment it came out on audio. I was all about it. But I heard Little Liar was just the perspective of Malachi. So like a repeat of Little Stranger but Malachi’s point of view the whole time. Now I am annoyed that I listened to anyone on this book. While yes we spend part of this book rehashing Little Stranger in Malachi’s eyes, what I didn’t hear is that we also see other moments during that time that were not part of Little Stranger. There were whole ass scenes that didn’t make it to Little Stranger. Yet these were some very hot scenes!!! Also you got to hear more of how Malachi was treated compared to what Olivia was actually witness to. We surely didn’t get the whole point of view!
I can say that with my whole chest because you grow to like one character in the first book only to realize they were not actually a good person at all. You end up completely hating them and liking the person you hated in Little Stranger. Trust me that will make sense when you read both of these books.
Then on top of all of that, we hear how Malachi handled his jail time and how he managed once he was released. So like let me set the base work for y’all. This dude dealt with so much in life and then he gets put into jail where no one can understand him because he doesn’t speak. So his only way to communication is writing. Then the person he wants to write to is not answering his letters. So he lost everything and has to deal with jail time on his own. He knows he did wrong. He knows he lost control and wasn’t in control of his body. But at the same time, he also lost everyone while he was in jail.
Don’t even get me started on THE DAMN SPIDERS!!!! Why???? Seriously, why? Why did everyone kill his spiders. What in the world did they do to you that you had to kill the spider. Why couldn’t that man keep his dang spiders??? I don’t even like spiders and I was absolutely so mad about this fact!!!
Ok so not how I normally blog but I wanted to change it up and just have fun with this one. Hopefully y’all enjoyed the change of pace as well. Who knows what the next one will be like but this was a fun blog for myself. I felt like I was venting the drama to a close friend. Y’all are welcome for my dramatics.
Final thought, I absolutely loved how this gave off mafia dark romance vibes with being not a mafia drama. At least I wouldn’t personally classify this as a mafia dark romance. Yes it has some connections to it but its not full blown mafia. But I personally liked that. I love mafia for the fact that the MC’s are loveable villains. The ones that will burn the world to save their woman. That is Malachi through and through. He 100% will burn the world and anyone around him to save Olivia from anything he deems unsafe. Love that for her.
If you haven’t read Little Stranger and Little Liar yet but love the dark romance world, I need you to get your butt in gear and read them both. Actually try audio. Both were beautiful on audio!
