“Please choose me. No one ever chooses me.”

“He was trying to take what was mine.”

“You used to always kiss me.”

“He interrupted my meal. Maybe now he will know better than to take away my food. The fucking asshole.”

“She can yell at me while I fuck her.”

These are all of the quotes that had me in the feels. The ones that stuck out while listening to this book on audio. I literally paused the audio to write them down so I wouldn’t forget. These are just some of the quotes that should hook you into reading Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers.

I know, craziness is happening. I changed up the style of blogging this round and added all of these quotes first. Ya see, I actually had the chance to listen to whatever audio I wanted and this was the answer. So I thought I would also try something new and share the quotes that caught my attention. I like to make a list if I remember of the quotes as I like to use them for content on social media but at the same time, I genuinely forget some days. But this round, nope, I absolutely remembered and now I have to share.

Little Strangers is about Olivia and Malachi, two kids that were adopted by the Vice family. Malachi is mute by choice because of his trauma’s as a child but he doesn’t let that stop him from becoming close with Olivia. They met at a young age and upon first meeting Malachi instantly called Olivia “mine.” If you’re like me, we ate that up real fast even though they were kids.

Malachi was a smart kid and found ways to push boundaries with Olivia subtly. He actually said they celebrated victories with kisses. A nice subtle way to be able to kiss Olivia without her second guessing any other motives. But sadly that caught up to him and when their new adoptive parents noticed, they moved Malachi out of his shared room with Olivia to a room on the opposite side of the house.

Well that didn’t stop them at all. Each night they found ways to climb into each others rooms so they could sleep together. You see, when they shared a room, they helped each other get through the dark moments by sleeping in the same bed. Nothing sexual happened, they just shared the same space and cuddled. Slowly their feelings grew for each other and both tried their hardest to not give away that they were developing feelings.

That is until their lessons started….. This is where we stop our retelling. Y’all need to read these lessons on your own and enjoy every moment of it without me spilling those details.

I have honestly read this book before but it has been a little bit since then. So I wanted to start the next book in this duet but realized I wasn’t sure I fully remembered all the details. Hence a relisten was needed. I am so darn glad that I did!! I forgot how much I loved Malachi. He is like my favorite genre of men, mafia men, but without being part of the mafia. Malachi just has that “fuck it” attitude when it comes to protecting his woman. No one will be getting in his way or he will burn the world down to find her. Yet this round, he didn’t bring harm to her, it was his adoptive parents. He just cleaned up their mess and made sure she was safe. That is exactly what I love about the mafia men. So to read that without him being part of the mafia, I was melting!!!

I really look forward to seeing where this will go in the next book! I have not read this one or even listened to it. So this will be my first time with it. Oh I can’t wait!!
