He said “I love you” but Venom said “…you’ve managed to sink your vicious teeth into me, releasing a type of poison I’m not immune to. It pumps through my veins, the chambers of my heart. Your delicious poison has filled my lungs; your wicked touch tames the flames inside me and silences my demons. Make no mistake, sweet beast, you are deep within me…”

I don’t think I will recover from all of the poetic moments throughout this book. There were just so many moments of “I gotta remember that one” as I read. Kayla Marie really said she wasn’t planning to write Venoms book but I am so thankful that she did. I didn’t know I needed him but goodness, after that read, I am glad he came into my reading life!

We get a glimpse of Venom when we see him in The Bone Reaper. In that book, I really had a moment of feeling like Venom was just an ass. But like a loveable ass. So we like those but at the same time I was a bit interested to see where we were going to go with his character build. He was written beautifully. I hate that it is because of trauma that has made him into the man that he is but at the same time, I can appreciate how he uses his trauma for “good.”

Venom first meets Ivy when he was…. working. When he finished his job he heard noises and went to investigate. That is when he found Ivy. She was being held captive against her will. She begs him to help her and after a bit of fighting, he takes her to his home. Ivy meets Ev, Venoms house keeper, and they become quick friends. More so Ev is like the mother Ivy and Venom never had.

Venom and Ivy’s love starts to slowly blossom in ways they don’t even notice. Venom blames Ivy for not being able to take jobs because he needs to keep an eye on her. Yet at the same time he genuinely loves being able to stay with her and not leave her side. They don’t realize it but the love forms in the little things. Like watching Ivy learn sign language so she can talk to Ev. The small things are whats getting under their skin and planting those roots.

Sadly this is a small over view yet again. I just cant go into detail and ruin the plot for you all. If you haven’t noticed, a lot of authors have been doing this lately. Where they tie together so many details that if you speak on it, it will give chunks of the plot away and I don’t want to do that to you all! So we gotta stop here.

Author Kayla Marie may not have planned to write this book but I hope she knows this book was a much appreciated surprise. I didn’t know I needed Venoms point of view but I loved every minute of it! Also I was downright happy to see that Venom got his happy ending. That man deserves it!! So ma’am, this may not have been the plan but I think you knocked it out of the park! I am obsessed.

If you have not already read The Bone Reaper, I recommend starting there and then pick up Venomous. But if you’re like me and you have met Reaper, then its time to meet Venom. I promise its worth it for all of my dark romance girlies!!!
