How is K.T. Maddan going to come out with her first book and its a complete banger? I absolutely love watching as authors have “glow ups” with their writing and over time you really see them settle into their niche. While she is now in more of the dark romance, I will say this was a wonderful start. Book one and I am so ready to read the rest. I am hearing great things about book 3 but so far Elias has me melting!!! 

So if you haven’t followed K.T. Maddans writing journey then let me fill you in. She started with these 3 books that are cowboy smut. Then she moved to one book of her Cryptid series. Followed by book one of her duet, Bound by Shadows. Then after this point, we are way deep in the dark romance world. She dropped the second book from the duet, 2 more cryptid books and she is set to have another cryptid book, Writhe and Run With Me arrive with in the next year. So she really went from this lightly dark cowboy romance to a deep dive into some more dark romance/ horror. The Cryptid series is a very quick read series but they definitely are not light reads. If you’re not into horror then I would recommend not reading. Check them trigger warnings first!!!! 

Now onto this book!!! Whispers of Redemptions started off in one of the darkest moments for Tierney. We are also going to call her by her nickname, Tee. Tee was in an abusive relationship and thankfully she woke up from the control ways and she left to save herself. But she wasn’t stupid with this escape. She changed cars, left her phone, didn’t take much, she did everything to just get out of there. Sadly her ex did find her but thankfully she was with her friend and was able to stay safe. Once again, they sadly knew this wasn’t the answer, so Tee once again went on the run. She found a new town and a family to work for and the rest was history. 

Elias just got out of jail after serving 5 years for arson. One mistake changed his life completely. But now that he is out, he heads back home to the ranch that his family owned. Let’s just say, Tee and Elias had a very rocky start. They were the enemies to lovers through and through. The struggle seemed to be that Elias wasn’t around much and he almost felt jealous, so to speak, that Tee has such a pull in his families dynamic. How did an outsider that’s only been there for 9 months get so much say into the ranch dynamic? 

We all know that this whole thing ends up working out and Elias finally gets his girl. But how long can Tee hold out? Will her past traumas play a big roll in her finding actual love? Will Tee be scared and run away? How will the big drama play out? 

Author K.T. Maddan, it has been so fun to read your first book. Knowing what you write now and being able to enjoy the current writing style is one experience. But to read this, its a different experience and I am loving seeing the beginning of your journey. Absolutely loved how both MC’s were so strong. Strong for different reasons but strong none the less. It was so refreshing to see how Tee did everything she could to stand on her own two feet and fight against her abuse. It may have hurt to watch her continue to push Elias away, it was nice to see how she also accepted his help in the times she needed him the most. She had the sense that he was someone she could let her guard down with but at the same time she was reserved until she knew for sure how to trust him. I cannot get enough of their dynamic through out this book!!! 

If you are looking for a light dark romance book to see what dark romance is all about, this is a wonderful book to dip your toes with. It has some trigger warnings to read over first but it was also one of the books that will help you to slowly ease into the dark side. This will be one we start with and then we can head to Bound by Shadows. Then you can get to darker reads.
