There may have been so many sweet moments that I could quote right now instead but when you read this book, this line hit different. I cackled so much reading this because its an intense moment and Deacon’s still over here like “uhhhh, I’m not done yet.” This line just showed how much Deacon was head over heels in love with Freya. So if you want to see a man treat his lady right, this would be the book for you! 

We start out with Freya having moved to the area with her family and she ends up trying to find a new job. She finds such at a local cafe and absolutely loves being able to get out of the house and do something for herself. This is where Deacon see’s her as she takes a moment to herself. Instant love. He fell for her right there and he wasn’t going to make it far without her. But Deacon also knew he needed to tread carefully and get to know Freya first. Well why can’t you stalk the person at the same time? I mean multitask people, multitask!!! 

One stormy night, Deacon is driving down the road and finds Freya trying to walk home. You see they are neighbors and its only the neighborly thing to help her out…. Yea, let’s go with that. Deacon brings her to his home as there is no way to get back to her house. He ends up getting her cozy and sets her up in his guest room while he goes on with his night. She wakes up in the middle of the night and looks out her window to find him outside. Let’s all realize where this leads to. So here starts the relationship even though she tries to deny it. 

Freya doesn’t have an easy life, so to be dating “the enemy”…. She knows that’s not going to turn out well. Finally one night, she is confronted because a family friend caught her sneaking off to Deacon’s place. This wasn’t a good moment. It gave off Reba McEntire “that’s the night the lights went out in Georgia” vibes. She ends up being locked inside the house for a week and that’s when Deacon hatches a plan to get her back. Adult-napping so to speak.

This my dear friends is where we have to stop. I know, I cliffhangered you on this one but you’ll greatly appreciate it when you read this book. 

Author Raya Morris Edwards has really taken my attention with this book. I have read some of her other work but I have to say this one showed how much she is getting into her own writing style. I absolutely loved feeling like I was watching a movie the entire time and devoured this book in a day. This is definitely one where I wish I could reread this for the first time again. I wasn’t ready to give it up. Sadly we had to but I will say, I am going to go back and read the first two books in this series soon! 

This dark romance, cowboy, enemies, BDSM, dom/sub book is definitely going to need to be your next delicious read! I promise this is one you will want to add to the top of your reading list. If you need a book where the man gives off massive “who did this to you?” Vibes, then this is for you!!
