“We accept the love that we are influenced to deserve. Some of us need a reminder of how much we are worth.”

If two sentences will capture your attention and desire to read a book, let it be this one. Oh how true is this quote. Some of us will accept the love we are influenced to deserve but what is we weren’t raised around good influences? Then how do we know what we deserve?

This book genuinely had so much heaviness in the topics but it was yet a book filled with light hearted moments. Lauren was dealt a crap hand in life and she truly struggled for years. Until she found a home that she could stay in and focus on her studies. Once she was able to graduate college and get a degree, she went on to make the most out of her career. By the age of 24, she was accomplishing more than most would ever dream for their lives. Taking the chance, she applied for a job in a different state in hopes to find out what her birth mother loved so much about this new area. What she didn’t plan on happening was meeting Adam.

Adam is the CFO for his families company and he is not too happy about this job. Don’t get me wrong, he is happy to work for his family and loves it but at the same time he is tired of the job. He is often taken advantage of and made to work crazy long hours. It’s a job he feels kind of stuck to speak up about so he just lets his family do whatever they need and he will just work the crazy hours needed.

Now Adam and Lauren meet and shortly after make a deal to become hook up buddies. They set rules and started with their fun. Now we all already know how this one is going to go. There is no way that they just kept to screwing buddies. Nope. Not possible. So you can guess where this leads but at the same time, I think you’re going to need to pause and actually read the book as the ending isn’t how I expected us to go!

This is the first time I have read anything from author Jenna Lockwood and I look forward to finishing out this series!! I didn’t let myself read the sneak peek of the next book that was shared in KU but I have a suspicion I know who the next couple will be about! To which I am excited for that one! I enjoyed how this book brought to light some heavier topics that some people may experience in life. I like how we respected the victims and showed that not always do we turn to therapy right away. That we can actually turn to that at any point in life to better ourselves.

This book is book one in a three book series. I so look forward to seeing how Jenna Lockwood will continue with these couples!!!
