Lets start this with saying, I have been so excited to read this book for a long time. Well since the last book but you get what I mean. So color me surprised that I didn’t realize it was available on kindle! Y’all know exactly what happened. I downloaded that thing so fast and finished it in two days. I have no problems saying I have a strong addiction to this entire series but I was absolutely obsessively waiting to get my hands on this book.

Ok let’s dive in!!!!!! So we saw glimpses of this couple in the previous book. Now hold my horses, I forgot to say, this is another series that is would be fine to read in whatever order you want but it makes a tad bit more sense to read in order. But to understand everything you don’t have to start at square one if this review makes you ready to read the book! Back to the topic at hand, we see this couple in the previous book and it honestly spiked my interest when we see them first interact. I remember being like “somethings going on here.” To which I was not wrong. Now what I like about this book, is that we actually get to start on their first interaction and then we take a look into the past. The past explains why the MMC is in jail and really shows how the two didn’t know each other even though they were step siblings. Oh, did I forget to add this is a step sibling relationship?

From the start, this couple only grew up together for around 3 years but the MMC was working for the mafia at this point and he was doing a lot of jobs. So he didn’t actually “grow up” with the FMC. The FMC actually doesn’t remember him at all. It takes a school assignment for the FMC to decide to write to the MMC.  The letter writing and mailing to the MMC went on for years until one day he finally decided to write back and explain the math struggles she was having. The MMC still doesn’t know why he decided to do that but it did help him as he ended up using the FMC as a secret spy.  Even in jail and under the down low, the MMC was running the Mafia from his cell. Once a week he would have a meeting with his step father, the don, and tell him what needs to be done, updated on the reports and more. He was in charge without actually being around. Now he wasn’t stupid, he knew there was stuff going on that he wasn’t hearing from the two guys he had working for him. He needed to get into the crowd more. He needed someone to really hear what the gossip was.

I give you the FMC. The FMC is skilled at blending into a crowd. She had the skill to go unnoticed. So when her step brother writes her codes in letters, she figures them out and writes back to him with the information he is seeking. This takes us all the way to the FMC’s fathers funeral. Where we first start off at the beginning of the book. The MMC is granted time out to see the burial and at this point he see’s the FMC. Instantly they both are falling in love. I mean that happened over time from the letters but from that point on they both knew they were in love. But sadly the MMC had to dig the knife in and told the FMC’s sister that he needed a meeting with her and the FMC was not allowed to join. The FMC was so heartbroken over the fact that she built this relationship up to only have him knock it down in one swift motion.

Finally its time for the MMC to get out of jail and he instantly goes to the clubs to have a good time. But that good time didn’t happen because home boy realized he is only interested in one person. So he goes to her house and tells her its time to pack up and she’s moving. When he realizes she’s panicking he explains the FMC is moving in with him.

This is where we are going to leave off because I need you to read the heartbreak I was feeling during the rest of this book. Now I get it, the man was trying his hardest to think of what was best for the FMC but at the same time he didn’t listen to the FMC. If he did and actually listened, he wouldn’t have tried everything he did. Let me also buffer it wasn’t horrible like cheating but it was a bit sad. Like man, chill out, she’s in love with you and you’s in love with her. Just call it a day and be together. It’s ok!!! But obviously that can’t happen or this book would be only 150 pages and not as delicious as it is!

Author Neva Altaj continues to write one amazing book after the other with this series. I continue to think the previous book is my favorite and then I read the next and I am not so sure. Now I will say this one is a top contender for number 1. I look forward to this being in audio form this summer. Now this one though I loved how they built a relationship without actually meeting each other. It was purely falling for the other persons mind. A true, getting to know the person first and then the rest came as a benefit.

I am not fully sure how Neva does it but these books flow so smoothly. It feels so tranquil and free flowing to see how these characters are going to handle life and fall in love. Obviously its also a bit hectic with the crime side but in general, the books are so well written, that I can easily read these books in a few days. The writing style is what has my attention and then the plots come in and have me hooked and ready for the next one. I think this dynamic is perfect and exactly what I love seeing when reading. Also if you don’t know, there is another series coming from this series. This series is the parents and the next series is the kids from these couples. The first one in that series is available and downright amazing. Best believe I was on that one fast! 10/10 I highly recommend this series!
