I am a little backwards in the world of Nikki J Summers. I started with her latest series and now am on a journey to back track. So I just finished The Thief and that entire series and then said “yo let me get to work on my TBR.” As a lot of us have the issue, we keep picking up the new books and not finishing our running TBR. Well I did so and noticed this series was in the TBR!!! I’m a sucker for Nikki J Summers. So you know this was my next pick. Well I love the narrators too for the last series and this series didn’t fall short at all. So off I went to pick this up in audio version. 

We all need someone thats going to love us but also call out the bullshit we may not see. The MMC did exactly that for the FMC. You see, her father was into some corrupt things and in general, the FMC wasn’t the biggest fan of her father. She didn’t downright despise him but sh was cautionary towards him. So when the MMC starts asking her to look into things, she does and starts to slowly uncover some information. 

Sadly this information was spread like wild fire in one of the worst ways possible. She didn’t see it coming that the MMC would hold a big gathering and tell everyone the dirty laundry. The trust was built between the two MC’s but would this actually stay strong after such a betrayal?

This book had a lot of moments where we saw the that MMC was in love with FMC for a while but didn’t let her know until recently. He was the one telling everyone to leave her alone, not her big brother. He was the one that would make sure things worked out for her when they started to go south. The MMC was absolutely in love. The FMC also had feelings but at the same time, she felt like this dude was most likely not interested. 

I absolutely loved how this book gave me the same vibes that The Thief and that entire series gave. I loved how everyone loved their significant others. I was as if they all wanted to be tough and not show the true feelings but in reality they actually were head over heels in love. That is exactly how this book ended up. He wasn’t trying to show everyone that he was obsessed but he also wasn’t trying to hide that he was hanging out with her. 

The end of this book we are left on a cliffhanger but at the same time, I am ok with this one. It leads nicely into the next book and I can’t wait to listen to it soon! I already started it and am about 8 chapters in but I can’t wait to see how this one will turn out. Now this will be a series that you need to read or listen to in order to fully understand the entire series concept. It just helps especially with this cliffhanger, I can see how you would want to listen to this book before heading to the next one!!!
