Deal With The Devil

He’s a good man, dang it. He is a good man. We look past the violence and see that he is a good man! Kinda like listen and don’t judge. Close your eyes to his violence and love him for everything else. Well…. I mean, a lot of the violence was because he kept his wife safe. So I think that kinda makes things ok.

Lachlan and Kat both have a secret crush on each other. They just don’t know it. How could they when Kat is hidden away most of her life? Sadly Kat followed her heart and helped in a situation that ended up putting herself into a really bad predicament. You see, her father didn’t pay much attention to her. He let her go to school, was on board with her going to a different country to finish the classes and she genuinely felt like she had the world ahead of her. But when that night happens and things completely change, little does Kat know that her world was about to be flipped upside down.

I won’t say what exactly goes on but know that Lachlan ends up marrying Kat and keeps her safe from the future she was destined to have. Their love story blossoms and over time they start to realize that maybe their original plans needs to change. I mean when you’re in a loveless marriage then why would you think about building a future with your spouse. Your dreams and original family plans come into play and you plan to take care of those instead. But what happens when both parties start falling for their spouse?

Their love wins out. That is all I will say about this one.

Author Deborah Garland truly surprised me with this book. I am so excited to say this was my first time diving into her works and I don’t regret one minute of it. This audiobook was absolutely phenomenal. The movie that was playing in my head can stay for good! I think the narrators for this book also were spot on. I will admit I am a bit of a sucker for Troy Duran’s voice and Lexi Evans was such a wonderful new narrator to myself. These voices and the plot of the book absolutely blew me away.

The part that I loved the most was this felt like it paced perfectly. We only repeat the whole “oh this marriage isn’t going to last” kind of commentary because it wasn’t supposed to last. But other than that, it truly felt like we didn’t repeat, we had a good timeline, the plot was spot on and you could watch the love grow. Now the downside is that we kinda left off on a cliffhanger but I understand that’s just gotta happen at times too. So I must cool my jets and wait for the next book to come out.

If you’re looking for a mafia romance novel to read, this is definitely one to pick up with the audiobook.
