“Be a good girl and open your mouth, Lacy.” He’s talking about soup…. But if one line is going to hook you onto reading this book… let it be this line. As I said he was only talking about soup…. How do you think he speaks during other times. Well just to tease, he follows it up with “That’s my girl.”
Sit down darling, snuggle up and be with Hudson.
Oh Hudson (I mean the book), you have been such a delight to read. I am one of those people that some books have such a grip on me that I will be in the middle of a task and get extremely excited that I still have more left to a book. That happened quite a bit when reading this book. I was so excited to see how it was going to turn out. Let’s be real, I knew we were going to end in the most beautiful of ways but I absolutely adored going on the journey.
Lacy is a hard working woman that supports her mother and herself on her income. This girl hasn’t had an easy life. She had to grow up pretty fast. Her mothers health isn’t good for one but that doesn’t even begin to describe what all she has been through. I will say part of me feels we need to go read Tanner to find out part of the trauma that Lacy has been through but that is a little side blimp. Not one where I felt like I didn’t understand the whole story. Just made me curious. Any who, back to it. Hudson is a widower and finally makes the move to move back home to be with his family. That dude was a goner from the beginning when meeting Lacy and let’s just say we are happy he didn’t get in his head too much. He pursued Lacy and thankfully won her over pretty fast. The part I loved the most was how she showed her that she wasn’t alone anymore. Lacy is so used to having to do everything on her own that she wasn’t expecting him to help her out as well as dating.
Hudson took it upon himself to find the best care and assistance that Lacy’s mother could get. This also led to Lacy being able to devote more time to actually taking care of herself too. She was finally able to not rush around all the time to make everything work out. She was able to actually do things for herself. So she said yes to going on a date with Hudson. Boy I think she enjoyed that truck bed date just fine. Y’all, that is where the spice starts and let me tell you, it wont disappoint! That mans mouth. I mean I teased you with the opening line here on the blog but sir, let us be warned first that we need a fan!!!
Hudson and Lacy’s love though was just so beautiful to watch unfold. I loved seeing how they both found the type of love they were looking for even though they didn’t realize this was what they wanted. Lacy wanted someone to take care of her and life. Hudson wanted some that he could just be with. As in, he literally is happy to be able to spoil her, watch the stars, talk, be a mom to his son and just have someone he felt strongly for in his bed at night. He found that with Lacy but it was almost more so like he found his comfort. It was a beautiful love story.
Author Samantha Skye has brought to us a really sweet love story that pulled a “excuse me” head jerk at the end of this book. Have fun with the last 20% is all I’m saying. I yelled “no he didn’t!!” And “no she didn’t!!!” A few times. So advance warning on that one.
This is my first read from Samantha Skye and I have to say this wont be my last. I will first be heading back to catch up on Tanner and then be back to read about Conner. So I have some catching up to do before the next release. I loved how easy it was getting into this book and how much it felt like a comfort read. Any time I wasn’t reading, I was looking forward to being back with my book bestie. I genuinely loved this writing style and how it played out mentally. I also felt like this wasn’t a repeat book. One where the author just keeps repeating the same lines. While yes some points were brought up a few times, it wasn’t in the manor of like “not again with this detail.” It was in the sense we were explaining one thing but we need to bring up this vital detail. Perfectly stated and loved how the words felt like they just fell out effortlessly from the author.
I look forward to reading more from Author Samantha Skye. Hudson is now available! Go have a wonderful read!!!
