I jumped into this book only seeing the tropes and small glimpses of what I was getting myself into. The cover definitely gives off the vibes that some things are going to go down but at the same time when I read “Small Town Romance” I typically feel like we are going cutesy romcom. To which, that’s not a problem at all. Now what I read though, completely different than what I was thinking would happen. I was definitely happy with this turn of events.
What do you do when you’ve been betrayed by some of the most important people in your life? You obviously leave and make a better life. That is exactly what Millie does. Now it definitely came with a lot of bumps and bruises along the way. Yet she pushes through and slowly gets back on her feet. She makes two new friends that quickly become like family to her and let’s be real, she be falling for their brother. Emmett is the towns Sheriff and he is slowly also falling for his sisters best friend.
As time goes on, Emmett and Millie start to form feelings for each other but they didn’t fully understand the gravity of their feelings until Millie had a break in in her house. Oh did I forget to tell you, Millie has a stalker. Said stalker does not like that she is getting a little more cozy with Emmett. In his eyes, Millie is the stalkers. No one else can have her. So you can see where this isn’t going too well as she starts to form feelings with Emmett.
There had been a few suspects but they didn’t fully know if the suspects actually did the stalking and killing. I wont go any further into the book. This will be my cut off because let’s be real, I absolutely hate giving away the plot! But this book…. Sheesh!!! It starts at about 50% of the way through the book with the more intense plot. I was on my toes the entire time!
Author K. Knightly wrote an amazing book with Destined. I truly feel that there could be more books that come after this one. I am truly hoping we get a more in depth book on Greer! Hint hint, can she end up with her brothers best friend? Ok, thats just my thinking. Any who, this book was written with the vibe that we are going to have a lot of romcom style but the mystery comes out in little glimpses. It was a wonderful mixture of the two genres but I think the dark side was written to really capture your attention.
She also wrote in dual perspective but there were some “special” chapters and I really absolutely adored those chapters. I loved being able to feel like we got a sneak peak into a side we didn’t see coming.
This was my first book from Author K. Knightly and I will say it has me ready to read more! I will definitely be joining the train right away! I look forward to seeing what K. Knightly comes up with next!!!
