I want to start off this blog post by saying that I am not a big greek mythology person. I do not think to go towards that genre pretty much ever. But when I saw the ARC sign up for this book, I saw motorcycle club and mafia. Yep, two of my favorite things. I will for sure dive right into that pool any day but throw them together, I’m gone. So when I picked this up and there was greek mythology added in, I will say I was a tad bit nervous. But y’all….. why was I nervous?!?!? Why did I let it have me a tad bit scared?!?!?! How rude of myself. Author Vanessa Stock down right killed it with this book. Seriously, who else is going to do mafia, motorcycle club, Romeo/ Juliet and greek mythology and nailed it? I’m all for this one!!!! Go read it. I actually am not sure if I want you to finish this blog post or just go read it….
Let me get into this book. Let me also add, that this book had a few different twists and turns, but due to this, I really am not going to give away much. There is so much that you need to stumble upon and not have me telling you about it instead. It’s a must find out while reading, so I will give you the basis of this book and my thoughts! Ok let’s go!
Aphrodite, the poor girl was just a pawn in this entire book and she genuinely couldn’t figure out who to trust. I mean the person she thought she could trust ended up dying and she obviously then was left to her own devices. So how does a sheltered girl end up finding the right person to trust and at the same time she falls in love with him. Ares isn’t supposed to be the person she falls for but as fate would have it, that is exactly who she falls for. To which is absolutely needed for this girl to make it out of this all alive.
You see, Aphrodite is forced into a marriage to make an alliance and she is not in love with her husband. She doesn’t even know her husband. Yet she decides to attempt to go along with the plan in hopes her true love, Ares, will save her in time. Sadly that’s not how this will go. Aphrodite will end up marriage someone other than Ares. At one point she does feel a little something for her husband but thankfully the man is too rude that she slowly realizes that he is not all the happy sunshines he’s trying to portray.
After keeping their affair a secret, Ares starts to notice that he thinks the tides are changing and it may soon end up that he is killed. In a last ditch effort, Ares and Aphrodite run away in hopes to be able to be together in a different world. But sadly, luck wasn’t on their side and thats where I will close my lips and not spill the beans on what happens next. The last 100 pages will have you reading so fast. You’ll watch as Ares and Aphrodite are pushed to their limits and fighting for their love. True love fights and thats exactly what they do. Now read the book and hold on tight for the last 100 pages. Vanessa Stock will send you for a roller coaster for this book and I think you will end up just fine!!
OOOO wait!!! I forgot! Hold my beer! The epilogue?!??!?!?!??!? I’m hooked. I’m ready for book two! I hate saying that in the sense that the author just worked her butt off making this delicious book but I mean she left us on a seriously intriguing cliff hanger. I gotta know what goes on next! Hades had my heart too during this book, so I gotta find out what is going on with my homie!!!
